Bij de aankondiging van de PlayStation 4 werd gemeld dat de console een integratie met Ustream krijgt. Hiermee kunnen gamers hun ervaringen die ze hebben opgenomen delen en ze kunnen hun gameplay live streamen via de Ustream service. Daar blijft het niet bij, want via Ustream worden er ook vaak niet-game gerelateerde evenementen georganiseerd, zoals het live streamen van een concert, PlayStation evenementen en meer.

Dat de PlayStation 4 qua streaming erg interessant gaat worden mag duidelijk zijn, maar hoe zit het met de PlayStation 3? Verrassend genoeg krijgt ook deze console een Ustream feature, al zij het niet zo uitgebreid als op de PlayStation 4 het geval zal zijn. PlayStationLifestyle vroeg Ustream CEO Brad Hunstable of de PlayStation 3 ook een Ustream mogelijkheid krijgt en die komt er… wellicht in de vorm van een applicatie.

“Yeah, it won’t obviously have the other stuff, but we do plan on doing that.”

“Yeah, our intent is to bring all of our content, so today was Elon Musk’s SpaceX flight, that was bringing a capsule to the international space station, and content like that should be on there. If you want to watch a major music festival, or a skateboarding event or whatever, we want to bring all of that content into the PlayStation experience. And the reason is that these are not just gaming devices, these are media devices. So when you have 30 million connected users, we can serve entertainment outside of just gaming and we will absolutely be a part of that.”

Of de PlayStation Vita ook een Ustream applicatie krijgt wordt op dit moment nog bepaald dus dat is even afwachten.
