Sony heeft een patent ingediend bij de ‘United States Patent and Trademark office’ voor een audio gerelateerd handelsmerk van Sony Corp. Het gaat hier om “ClearAudio+”, een interessant handelsmerk voor class 9 (welke gelinkt is aan videogames). Ook is ClearAudio+ een functie die voor game programma’s op home video game machines gebruikt kan worden en in CD-recording programma’s voor handhelds met LCD-schermen.
ClearAudio+ bestaat al op de Xperia-smartphones en sinds kort ook op de nieuwe modellen van Sonys Bravia TVs. ClearAudio+ is een functie die ervoor zorgt dat de equalizer meteen goed staat voor het type geluid wat er doorgegeven wordt. Het lijkt erop dat Sony deze functionaliteit nu wil integreren voor de PS4 en PS Vita en misschien zelfs wel de PS3.
The United States Patent and Trademark office just published the registration documents of another audio-related trademark from Sony Corporation. This time around it’s “ClearAudio+.”
What’s interesting is that the trademark has been filed between others for class 9 (which links it to games) and for “computer game programs for home video game machines” and “electronic circuits and CD-Roms recording programs for hand-held games with liquid crystal displays.”
ClearAudio+ is a system born on Xperia smartphones and extended to other products like Bravia TVs (apparently the publication of the trademark was delayed by bureaucracy) that automatically set the equalizer to the right (or at least what it thinks is best, which can be a little hit and miss) settings for the audio you’re listening to.The filing for home and hand-held game consoles seems to indicate that Sony is planning to extend the feature to PS4 and PS Vita. Interestingly Sony also trademarked “Hi-Res Audio” the same way, and lately we learned that SCEE R&D is working on a multimedia app suite for consoles. While there’s no way to know until an official announcement is made, those could be linked in some way.
