Rocket League, de game waarin je met auto’s voetbal speelt, is een ware hit geworden in zeer korte tijd. Sinds de game in de Instant Game Collection van PlayStation Plus van vorige maand zat, is het aantal spelers bij de launch direct de lucht ingeschoten met maar liefst 5 miljoen downloads op de PlayStation 4 en PC.

Veel Xbox One gamers vragen zich nu af waarom de game niet uitgekomen is voor hun platform. Jeremy Dunham, één van de leidende figuren op de marketing afdeling van Psyonix, geeft daar nu een antwoord op.

Hij zegt dat het ontwikkelen van de game voor de PC en PlayStation 4 was alsof je voor anderhalf platform aan het werk was. Dit komt mede door de handige toolkit en structuur van de console van Sony. Met slechts een dozijn programmeurs die aan Rocket League werkten, was dit dus het meest rendabel. De structuur van de Xbox One is gewoon net even anders. Dunham sluit echter niet uit dat de game in de toekomst alsnog op de console van Microsoft uitkomt.

Verder is er ook een nieuwe patch uitgebracht, waarvan je hieronder het overzicht ziet. Patch 1.03’s belangrijke punten zijn vooral het geven van strafpunten voor spelers die zomaar een potje verlaten en de 500 km Trophy telt nu ook je kilometers online mee, waardoor deze een stuk haalbaarder is.
